It was wanted to botanize the current status of elementary school students’ cognition and attitude of alien species in central Taiwan. It was sampled by cluster sampling. A total of 608 students had token the questionnaires. It was shown that the students’ recognition of alien species were diverse. In general, the alien species cognition of 6th graders was not good. The mean score was only 58.8%, most notably lower in the source of alien species. The factors increased the better performance in students’ cognition were: living in the city, higher frequency of reading, watch films or outdoor activities, having experience of breeding pets, and whose parents with better education. Besides, the attitude of the inhibition of alien species was positive. It was also found that some factors would raise the expression of students’ attitude of alien species, such as higher frequency of reading and whose father’s good antecedent. Moreover, it was a positive correlation between students’ cognition and attitude of alien species. The sources of alien species information of students were mostly got from TV, school education and films. It is suggested that the students of elementary schools should be confirmed the correct conception of alien species, such as the knowledge of irrupting pathway, and the disadvantages of releasing animals indiscriminately. Teachers could recommend the good information sources of alien specie for students. Furthermore, films of alien species were encouraged to produce. Those good films, TV programs, and publications would be delivered the alien species information and knowledge to the students and people.
