Summary: | 碩士 === 國立台北護理學院 === 旅遊健康研究所 === 95 === Most female college students don’t engage in regular physical activities and caused excess accumulation of body fat. Therefore the purpose of this study was to assess the effectiveness of Transtheoretical Model (TTM) by the intervention of brisk walking for female college students with high body fat.
Thirty female students(percentage body fat>30%)were recruited in the stage of “precontemplation”, “contemplation” and “preparation”. The experiment group(n=12)received 6-week brisk walking intervention(30~40 min, 3~5 times per week), while the control group(n=18)didn’t receive any intervention. Exercise behavior determinants such as perceived exercise benefit、perceived exercise barrier、exercise self-efficacy and obesity indicators such as percentage body fat、waist circumference 、 hip circumference and body mass index were measured on baseline, 6th week, and 14th week.
The results revealed that significant and positive changes on perceived exercise benefit, perceived exercise barrier, exercise self-efficacy, percentage body fat, waist circumference and hip circumference for the experiment group on 6th week, while no significant difference in the control group. All of the evaluation indicators on 14th week were the same as those on 6th week, except “exercise self-efficacy”.
The results verified that all exercise behavior determinants of TTM were different among different stages of change. Exercise relapse showed the complexity of personal behavior change. Regular exercises play an important role on weight-loss and health benefit maintenance. This result is useful as a reference for designing exercise intervention to female college students with high body fat in the future.
