Summary: | 碩士 === 國立台北護理學院 === 中西醫結合護理研究所 === 95 === The obese has the harmful influence to the adolescent girls. However, there were few evidence-based research conducing the effects of moxibustion on the body weight reduction The purpose of this study was to evaluate the longitudinal effects, after 4 weeks and 8 weeks, of moxibution intervention on the obese adolescent girls aged from fifteen to eighteen years old. The study was designed by longitudinal, experimental and double blinding methods. Forty-six participants were recruited in this study. There were random allocation to experiment group with twenty-four girls and control group with twenty-two girls. The experiment group were applied moxibustion on acupuncture points:Zhongwan、Qihai、Tianshu、Zusanli、Sanyinjiao. The moxibustion dose was 4±1gm(10minutes applying moxibustion) / per acupuncture points / two times a weak for eight weeks. While the control group took no intervention. The instruments were measured on self-esteem inventory and fat index including BMI value, waist to hip ratio and body fat ratio. The intervention effects from the study baseline to a 8-week follow-up were estimated using the Generalized Estimating Equations (GEE)for repeated measures of BMI value, waist to hip ratio, body fat ratio and self-esteem inventory
The results indicated that: (1) the waist to hip ratio has significantly decreased in experiment group after four weeks(ß= -0.011, P<0.05) and eight weeks(ß= -0.035, P<0.05)(2)The BMI value(ß= -0.794, P<0.05), body fat ratio (ß= -2.068, P<0.05)and self-esteem inventory(ß= 1.606, P<0.05) showed significant intervention effects after eight weeks of moxibustion intervention. In conclusion, this study utilized moxibution intervention would help the obese adolescent girls to control their body weight and increase their self-esteem. It provided a good reference of non-invasive nursing intervention for girl students in campus to control their body weight.
