Thus, managers have to be concerned about innovation capabilities. However, previous research about innovation capabilities has discussed the types of innovation capabilities or the effect of innovation capabilities to the performance of organization. There is not enough research discussing how to enhance innovation capabilities. Thus, the purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between the degree of knowledge application and innovation capabilities of 111 Taiwan’s technology firms. According to our research results, we have several findings: (1) Supplier knowledge application would enhance product and service innovation; (2) Customer knowledge application could improve product, process, marketing, service, and managerial innovation; (3) Competitor knowledge application could lead higher product, marketing, service, and managerial innovation; (4) Internal knowledge application could advance product, process, marketing, service, and managerial innovation. Those could serve managers a strategic reference to elevate ad hoc innovation capabilities in terms of planning and obtainment of appropriate the types of knowledge application.
