The progressive nature of forest sites space changes make it a more suitable target for the application of fuzzy phenomena and fuzzy problems. It is a reasonable assumption that estimation of forest growth by using fuzzy set theory may constitute an accurate and variable valuation method. Targeting the island-wide cypress forests, the study, with elevation, slope gradient, slope aspect, whole light sky space, soil properties, and soil depth as its influential factors, aims to explore how geographic information system (GIS) and fuzzy logic model are adopted to evaluate cypress forest sites. With analytic hierarchy process (AHP) as a means to determine the weight of environmental factors affecting sites changes, the study further conduct potential analysis on cypress forest sites by utilizing fuzzy comprehensive evaluation. Finally, data of Taiwan cypress forestation are gathered to verify the estimation accuracy of cypress growth potential areas. The high degree of overlapping existing between the distribution of cypress potential areas and cypress forestation areas resulted from the study shows a proven dependability of the fuzzy set theory in its assessment of potential forest sites and the flexible variability of the estimated model with which the desired goal of estimation may be achieved by adjusting the membership function on the sites space changed caused by future foreign environmental variables.
