The culling rates of the chicken is increasing and inducing heavy economic loss. In the present study, the methods of pathology, X-ray, and microbiology were used to examine the bone lesions of the affected chicken. A total of 112 cases were collected from 36 poultry farms, locating in eastern Taiwan. Among them, 60 cases showed vertebral lesions, including spondylolisthesis (34 cases; 56.6%), osteochondrosis(26 cases; 43.3%), spondylitis(8 cases; 13.3%), and roachback syndrome(2 cases; 3.3%). In 52 cases of tibial lesions, included tibial dyschodroplasia(36 cases ; 69.2%), rickets(34 cases; 65.3%), twisted leg(29 cases; 55.7%), osteomyelitis(13 cases; 25.0%), and chondrodystrophy(2 cases; 3.8%). Based on our studies, a variety of bone lesions could be detected in broiler chicken. The causes need to be further studied. Shinn-Shyong Tsai 蔡信雄 2007 學位論文 ; thesis 74 zh-TW
