Many kinds of development plans were put into rural areas such as the environment integration plan、the recreation develop plan、public facilities designs、and landscape designs. Although those plans can help rural areas develop better than before、this does not mean that the plans fit rural areas because there are very different needs in rural and urban areas. This is due to people in those areas having lives、natural assets、industry、landscape、customs、and culture. Nowadays、Taiwan’s rural areas still have to cope with many design ideas that come from urban designs. These designs can become a problem for rural places. The agriculture agency of the Taiwan government would like to improve rural development patterns to let them grow up without urbanization、so they created a new style of planning called the 「Leisure Agricultural Area Plan.」 The plan allows rural areas to develop their landscape for recreation and economic interests that let traditional agricultural changeover to leisure business. It was good for transforming rural areas in first stage but now rural development needs a new design pattern to cover more recent needs. Leisure Agricultural Area developing already helped rural areas raise their economic situations、now it should care more about sustainable development、especially landscape sustainablility because natural environment was the basis for rural development. The Leisure Agricultural Area plan has a responsibility to protect rural areas from unchecked development and it also has duty to avoid destroying natural resources and implement sustainable development. The reason this article discusses revision of the Leisure Agricultural Area plan methods of theory and planning stems from experience from Sinfong Leisure Agricultural Area at Gaoshu Township Pintong County. It should mix both theory and planning experience to create a clearer method to explain the Leisure Agricultural Area plan. Rural development must be sustainable、this is the first purpose of this article. The second is to show results which could be suggestions for other research of the Leisure Agricultural Area in the future.
