The program and the program notes are included in both parts. There were five pieces performed in the graduate recital, each of which represents a different period in the history of keyboard music. The first one, the Well-tempered Clavier II, Prelude and Fugue in D Major, BWV 874 of J. S. Bach, is a Baroque with the typical virtuosity and contrapuntal composition. The second piece, Piano Sonata No.31 in A-flat Major, op. 110 of L. v. Beethoven, contains the neat structures and forms in Classicism. The third piece, Papillons, op. 2 of R. Schumann, is the “character piece” in Romanticism. The fourth piece, sonatine for piano of M. Ravel, is the Impressionist’s masterpiece which combined Classicism structures with Impressionism colors. The last one, Piano Sonata No. 1 in f minor, Op. 1 of S. Prokofiev, composed by the Russian Modernism composer who revived the Classicism forms and imbued them with Modernism elements. By performing the five pieces each with particular characters, the history of the keyboard music were revealed. As for the three pieces performed in the performance recital, two different forms of pieces, Concerto and Variation, were contained. The Italian Concerto, BWV971 of J. S. Bach is a Baroque work in Concerto Grosso form. Another concerto, the Piano Concerto No.19 in F Major, K. 459 of W. A. Mozart, is of Classicism. Variations on an Original Theme in D Major, Op. 21, No. 1 of J. Brahms is a pieces with variation form.
