Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立高雄師範大學 === 環境教育研究所 === 95 === Abstract This study mainly aimed to investigate teachers’ knowledge about and attitudes toward natural conservation in Hengchun Peninsula area. The survey method was employed to explore whether teachers with different majors have different level of natural conservation knowledge and the attitudes, as well as to understand their demand for conservation curriculum and their perspectives about implementating of conservation curriculum in schools. A questionnaire was designed to assess three aspects: 1) natural conservation knowledge (including regulation system, recreation resources and species conservation); 2) natural conservation attitudes (including natural resource protection, economy and conservation); and 3) demands for natural conservation education and curriculum implementations in school. The target subjects in this study included all of the teachers in elementary schools, junior high schools, and senior high schools at the Hengchun Peninsula area. A total of 503 questionnaire were sent out, and 423 of them were completed (returns-ratio is 84%). Some major findings are reported as follows: 1. Teachers’ knowledge of conservation knowledge with respect to regulation systems and recreation resources reaches to an acceptable level. Their knowledge about species conservation still needs to be improved. 2. Teachers generally show positive attitudes toward natural conservation. 3. Significant correlations are found between natural conservation knowledge and attitudes toward conservation. 4. Positive correlations are found between demands for natural conservation curriculum and natural conservation knowledge, and between demands and attitudes toward natural conservation attitudes. 5. Gender, teaching experience, residential time, participation in nature related activities or training programs are the factors that might affect teachers’ knowledge about and attitudes toward natural conservation. 6. Teachers usually obtain information about natural conservation from TV, radio, newspapers, magazines, and internet.
