Summary: | 碩士 === 國立高雄師範大學 === 教育學系 === 95 === The purpose of this study is to discuss self–handicapping of the junior high school students, to compare the differences among variables of students´ background, test anxiety and perfectionism in self-handicapping, to investigate the relationship among test anxiety, perfectionism and self-handicapping and to explore the predictability of variables of students´ background, test anxiety and perfectionism to self-handicapping.
The subjects of this study are male and female students from fourteen junior high schools located in southern Taiwan. And the research instruments of this study include Text Anxiety Scale, Perfectionism Scale, and Self-handicapping Scale. In addition, descriptive statistics, one-way MANOVA, two-way MANOVA, stepwise multiple regression statistical techniques are employed to analyze the data obtained.
The results of this study are stated as follows:
1. Generally speaking, the self-handicapping of the junior high school students is not severe, whereas, the use of behavioral handicapping is higher than the use of claimed handicapping.
2. The self-handicapping of the junior high school students does not significantly differ with social-economic status.
3. The self-handicapping of the junior high school students is closely related to test anxiety.
4. The self-handicapping of the junior high school students is affected by the interaction of test anxiety and variables of students´ background, including gender and grade.
5. The test anxiety and perfectionism predict the self-handicapping of the junior high school students.
Based on the finding in the study, some suggestions for teachers and counselors at school, educational related authorities, and further studies are provided.
