Summary:碩士 === 國立高雄師範大學 === 特殊教育學系 === 95 === The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of a computer-assisted instruction on verbal expressive abilities of students with mental retardation in junior high school. A single-subject multiple probe design across subjects was employed in the study. The two participants were provided with a computer-assisted instruction designed by researcher. The independent variable was computer-assisted instruction. The dependent variable was the verbal expressive abilities of the participants. The verbal expressive abilities measured included: the number of verbal vocabulary and complete sentences. The major findings were summarized as followed: 1. The computer-assisted instruction had immediate, maintenance and generalization effects on the number of verbal vocabulary, but the generalization effect between the two participants was not consistent. 2. The computer-assisted instruction had immediate, maintenance and generalization effects on the number of complete sentences, but the generalization effect between the two participants was not consistent. According to the findings, several suggestions for made teaching techniques, computer-assisted instruction design and further directions were.
