And to understand the relationship between production and marketing operation. The research applied the conceptions of time geography and POET. The research methods included a field research and a questionnaire survey. It is anticipated that through the comprehensive research about the production progress of Water Bamboo, operation characteristics of Water Bamboo farmers and the marketing operation, the regional structure formed by the activities of the production and marketing operation about Water Bamboo in Puli would be illustrated. Besides the nice weather and clear water, the traffic promotion and agriculture policy make Puli become the biggest specialized producing area of Water Bamboo in Taiwan. It has been forty years since Water Bamboo was cultivated and popularized in Puli. The work of growing Water Bamboo is highly labor intensive and hard. Young people do not have much interest in the cultivation, so most farmers are old men. The lives of the farmers are chained by the busy business and transaction. Now some young people come back from the cities and cultivate Water Bamboo in Puli. This gives a hope to the revolution of Water Bamboo cultivation. Water Bamboo is a highly commercial crop, in order to disperse the selling risk, most farmers run diversifying operations. To the product promotion of Puli’s Farmer’s Association, the assembling areas of Water Bamboo are large and spread all over Puli; the distribution areas are mainly centralized in big cities in Taiwan. Nevertheless, to the local sellers of Water Bamboo in Puli, the assembling areas of Water Bamboo are small and centralized; the distribution areas spread all over Taiwan. Different from the promotion model of Puli’s Farmer’s Association, the promotion model of the local sellers has more periodic markets and the trading activity is more convenient and flexible.
