Summary: | 碩士 === 南華大學 === 環境與藝術研究所 === 95 === The Weitan Wetland area, which belongs to the kind of coastal wetlands, is not large.Weitan Wetland, on the boundary of Puzi, Dongshin and Lioujiao, is situated in the downstream of Puzi Stream near estuary. The research area, around 21 square ha, covers the waterway outside the dry farmland.
The authority had conducted the rehabilitation of the environmental ecology from July 1, 2005 to August 31, 2006. This research holds an ecology investigation which includes plants, birds, fish, and crustaceans. The research divided into two steps and last for one year. The first step takes six months, which include birds’ two-month migratory season, before the construction work . The second step also takes six months, which include birds’ two-month migratory season, after the construction work. The construction work includes greening on embankments, the reconstruction of the wetland, and the construction of the bird-watching path made of shells. With the new construction, the water courses in Weitan Wetland has changed. Waters flow into more areas. The wetland area is expanded; underwater creatures increase. It attracts migratory birds to inhabit. With the construction of the shell path, people are brought to the ecological environment of the wetland.
According to the study’s result, we find eighty-nine kinds of plants which belong to thirty families separately. The main plants in the wetland are Cyperus malaccensis, Brachiaria mutica, Phragmites communis, Pennisetum purpureum, and Ipomoea aquatica Forsk. We also find forty-one bird species which belong to eighteen families separately. During the winter season, winter migratory birds gather here to pass the winter. However, the proceeding of the construction work makes the migratory birds reducing. Weitan Wetland’s water resource comes from Puzi Stream
There are eight kinds of fishes and eight kinds of Uca arcuata in Weitan Wetland. We can also see Periophthalmus cantonensis and Uca arcuata on the mud here. Obviously, the ecological resources in this area is rich and it’s also a potential habitat for the creatures in the wetland.
