At past, for aborigine, the craft is a practical living necessity, for example, the rattan plait is used for the fish hamper, and the weaving and plant dye to be used for the dress, etc. It makes tribe live and link together with social culture. The tradition in Amis, the craft plant they used also has the important position in the ethnobotany. And the ethnobotany research contributes to the native vegetative usage method of understanding, and it can keep the bio-cultural diversity. So the craft plant can inquire into the knowledge and technical skill to spread to accept. In addition, it has the view of the ecosystem, the environment and the cultural. It not only can be made use in the teaching of the community, but also can be made use in the school to educate, environmental education, etc.
In the past, the ethnobotany researches all concentrate on the economy or medicine, and it seldom study from the standpoint of the craft plant. This research takes with the dyestuff of aborigine Amis who had used the dye craft plant as the main object of study, and takes Tafalong as mainly an area of study. This text tries to harmonize the analysis from the both side. The fist one is the root of the craft manufacture, it related knowledge of the craft plant that is and make use of the way; The second one is inquired into the revitalization’s diligent process of the craft culture of the past community reconstruction. This purpose of this study are lie in investigating the craft plant and aborigine cultural relation, the reason why the craft declined, and the way of craft developing. According to currently tribe in the condition of the traditional craft development, and the viewpoint of the residents' development toward traditional handicrafts future, we will inquire into the dilemma that the traditional craft renew meets with the method for solving.
