There are a few questions for which I have been trying to find answers. They are: how should I see the whole process of being a teacher? How am I going to see myself as a person with abundant teaching experience as well as a Buddhist? How am I going to find strength and new realizations in teaching and be happy with the role as a teacher? The thesis will be about the process of exploring my personal teaching implementation through a search for answers to the questions above. Hopefully, through this quest, my belief in being an ordinary teacher can be strengthened and I can cherish this identity as a teacher with no regrets. In my self-reflections, I find myself equipped with an energy. It is a kind of energy that needs to be nourished. It has been nourished by “a narration team” formed with a group of teachers with whom I have learnt so much from their own teaching experiences. Also, it is nourished by all that’s going on in the classroom. It is a personal growth after a series of trials. I see myself transforming from being a teacher “seeking ways of survival under the existing system” into a teacher who aims simply to “be there for the students”. My belief in Buddhism also plays a significant role in this transformation. Some unbelievable and precious opportunities have helped me realize how I should cherish what I already have and also to learn to face everything in life humbly. Through the observation of Satipatthanasutta (the four foundation of mindfulness), I try to find out what held me back; through the training of my heart, I learn to avoid from being engulfed by the turmoil of emotions; through the practice of Buddhism doctrines, I try to find the possibility of self-relief, tranquility of mind and mercy. I understand that if one can try to realize one’s own circumstances, and then seek the nutrition of one’s power, through the training of the heart and with the determination to practice it, being a care-free, relieved and merciful man is possible.
