Summary: | 碩士 === 國立新竹教育大學 === 教育心理與諮商學系碩士班 === 95 === The purpose of this research is to study the process of work adjustment of the beginning school counselor in public senior high school , conversion from hard adaptation to normal adaptation, and their introspection and metacognition . Narrative approach was used in this research. After interviewing each of the three research participants, their process of work adjustment were presented as stories. Each story was analyzed individually and the synthetic features across all three cases were further studied.
The major findings are summarized as following:
1. The work-adjusting process of each beginning counselor has its uniqueness. The common initial problem is caused by their unfamiliar with business. When they feel not accommodated, they want to leave for the job. They will be satisfied if they have good relationship with students. And they feel confused and conflict when they cannot figure what kind of role/position they play. The changing of related laws do not affect their adjusting.
2. The process of rookie counselor transfer from not accommodated to accommodated, including systematic perspective, working atmosphere between peers and inside experiences. Systematic perspectives include vacationing modulation and refresher courses. Working atmosphere include team support, positive feedback from students and teachers and the unclear line between clients. Inside experiences include transformation from negative to positive, self-doubting to feeling well toward self and acceptance of the reality.
3. The beginner's introspection and metacognition : Treat the process positively and affirmatively, know the needs of themselves and what they want ,gradually approve their self-identity and value of their work.
In the end of this paper the researcher will list the limitation of this research and provide advices to the future research and to guidance and counseling profession.
