Summary: | 碩士 === 國立新竹教育大學 === 音樂學系碩士班 === 95 === The main purpose of this study is to examine the participating motivation of music competitions in Taiwan area. Children who participated in the music competitions may have different kinds of status, motives, and effective cognitions. According to this situation, the author discussed the correlation between the reasons of children participating in the music competitions and the status, motives and effective cognitions. By means of this study, the author want to know whether one can predict the effective cognitions accurately by analyzing the motives of participating in the music competition.
The study inquired into 190 subjects (grades 3-6) who had the experience of joining in the music contest by Questionnaires in Taipei, Taichung and Taoyuan, provided the data for analysis. Descriptive statistics, chi-square test, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson’s product-moment correlation, and step-wise multiple regression were used. Besides, qualitative inquiry was through semi-structured questions and interviews 4 teachers and students who had the experience of music contest to verify the result.
Conclusion from this study was as following: 1. A lot of standard music competitions took place in Taiwan now. 2. Feeling of achievement was the main motive to drive children participating in the music competitions. 3. Music competition had more positive effect on children than negative one. 4. The performances of children in music competitions showed significant difference participating motivation of music competition had indifferent variables of area, learning backgrounds and instrument selections. 5. The significant difference of music competition of motives results from the different background of children.6. The effective cognition of music competitions of children results from the different background of variables children. 7. Children who has enthusiastic motive of participating in music competitions got more positive effect, however, low correlation between motives and negative effect. 8. Comparing with the effect of motives, the motives of self-growth and instrumental value had positive effect, and the attraction and the motives of achievement feeling had negative effect. According to the findings, this study proposed suggestions for music students, parents, music teachers, related institution and future researchers.
