relationship between elementary school principal’s paternalistic
leadership and school effectiveness. First, the present
conditions of elementary school principal’s paternalistic
leadership and school effectiveness were explored. Second, the
differences existing among principals with different background
variables about elementary school principal’s paternalistic
leadership and school effectiveness were examined. Third, the
relationship between elementary school principal’s paternalistic
leadership and school effectiveness was analyzed.
The methods of this study were adopted literature review
and questionnaire. Literature review was included the theory
discussions and comparative study. By using stratified random
in the questionnaire , the sampling results is 516 effective
samples selected out of 800 questionnaires, useful rate comes to
64.5%.The data was analyzed through the methods of
descriptive and inferential stat i s t i c s , t - test, one way ANOVA、
Scheffé 、Person’s product-moment corrrlation and multiple
regressions by SPSS /11.5 version.
The conclusions of the study are as follows :
1 .「Form personal prominence」of the principal’s paternalistic
leadership was significantly good.
2. No Differences of the perception of elementary school
principals’ paternalistic leadership existed among principals
with different years of experience and school sizes.
3. Differences of the perception of school effectiveness existed
among elementary school principals with different years of
experience and school sizes.
4. There were positive correlations between elementary school
principals’ paternalistic leadership and school
effectiveness.
5. The elementary school principals’ paternalistic leadership
has the perception to the school effectiveness.
According to the conclusions, some suggestions concerned as
follows:
1. The suggestions to elementary school principals
( 1) The principal will emerge the concerning of the father
power in good time, and dominate subordinate with the
authority of the professional leadership in order to
enhance school effectiveness.
( 2) The principal will develop the common culture and
pleasant in school to have the good team work ship and

cooperation.
( 3) The principal will increase personal interaction in order
to form open and creative school.
( 4) The principal should enrich education profession to
acquire support.
2. The suggestions to educational administrative insti t u tions
( 1) To build up the principal's professional education
leadership training and development.
( 2) The training techniques of principal have to enhance
leadership and management method, learn to use power
well and develop influence.
3. The suggestions to future research
( 1) To broad the scope of sampling, including leader and
subordinate both cross.
( 2)To conduct further studies or research with the method of
interview, observation for the purpose of quality
promotion.
( 3) To add more variables into the questionnaire or test.
