Abstract
The purpose of this resarch is to explore the relationship of the factor of the siblings of mental retarded persons and codependency; in addition to the relationship of codependency and dependent career decision making. The research adopted Questionnaire Survey Method and took the siblings of mental retarded persons from special education schools, special education class at senior high schooland vocational schools and mental retardation associations in Yunlin, Chiayi and Tainan as the study samples.Besides, the researcher used “Codepndency Scale” and “Career Decision Making Scale” as the research instruments. Results are provided according to descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, stepwisw regression analysis and regression analysis.
Results are summarized as follows:
1.The different handicapped degree of person with mental retardation, the codepency of the siblings of mental retarded persons is different.
2.The handicapped degree of person with mental retardation can effectively predict the codependency of the siblings of mental retarded persons.
3.The codependency of the siblings of mental retarded persons can effectively predict the dependent career decision making of them.
Finally, some suggestions for family education worker, policy making, the parents of mental retarded persons, and future research have been proposed according to the results.
