Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立嘉義大學 === 國民教育研究所 === 95 === The purpose of this study is to understand the 10-year history of “The Little Teapot” Drama Team in Chiayi, to explore the educational implications of the team members’ experiences in promoting theatre arts education, and to offer suggestions to governmental authorities. Research methods include in-depth interviewing with 16 team members, observations during regular rehearsals and actual on-stage performances, along with analysis of documents. Little Teapot’s drama scripts were adapted from well-know fairy tales and children’s stories, rather than created anew. The story lines are often entwined; the plots are educational in nature; and the stage performances often call for with frequent interaction with the audience. Little Teapot make gradual improvement in stage performance by learning from other children’s drama teams and by attending study programs. Little Teapot gradually transforms itself from an amateur team to a professional one. Little Teapot also makes every endeavor in promoting theatre arts activities and education, and contributes to the education of the citizens in the Chiayi region in arts appreciation. Members in the team who have teaching jobs also bring their theater experiences into their classes where students can learn in a more vivid atmosphere. Nevertheless, there are difficulties and challenges faced by the team including the increase in financial expenses, the need for committed and talented stage professionals, and the lack of permanent location for rehearsal.
