Abstract
Chapter of Leisure has been alleged in 1970 to claim that human should have a right to enjoy the opportunity, the education and the resource of leisure and recreation. That has showed the importance and value of leisure. Therapeutic recreation is the way of recreation activity through medical professionals direct against patient's specific demand on the physiology, psychology , spirit , social respect or behavior to evaluate and to plan. In compare of the development in advanced countries’ therapeutic recreation, it is at embryonic stage in Taiwan. To truly help the student with mental retardation, we should pay more attention on the conceptions and benefit of special teachers on therapeutic recreation. The purpose of the study was addressed: 1.To describe the condition of the conception and benefit pursue of special teachers on therapeutic recreation. 2. To probe the difference of the background between the conception and benefit pursue on therapeutic recreation. 3.To know the relationship between the conception and benefit pursue on therapeutic recreation. The method of the study is questionnaire survey. To use ” The conception and benefit pursue on therapeutic recreation questionnaire.” as the instrument.192 valid questionnaires were collected. Data obtained in this study were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test and one-way ANOVA. The findings were listed as follows:
1. One of the different background variables has significantly difference in seniority.
2. There was a significant positive correlation in conception and benefit pursue on therapeutic recreation.
