The end of 2004, VARIOPTIC Technology CO., LTD of France, issued two with small-scale liquid lens that liquid lens has the most different points from plastic and glass lenses. That liquid lens consists of two immiscible (non-mixing) fluids of different density and refractive index .The fundamental principle of liquid lens is using electro-wetting. When input the driving voltage to liquid lens then making the interface of two liquid take place deformation of curvature, the deformation of curvature of liquid can change the focus of lens and achieve the goal of automatic focus. Following the trend of 3C Products are made light, thin, short and small; it will come true to combine each advantage of liquid and traditional lens to design more applications in the future. This thesis is using ARCTIC 416 and ARCTIC 320 liquid lenses for initial design structure. The liquid lenses will combines traditional lenses and 2 mega-pixels CMOS image sensor. Using the optical design software of CODEV to design , optimization and analyzes the characteristics of one liquid lenses and two combinative liquid lenses. When design examples are finished, we will analyze and discuss the result of image quality then try to study the characteristics of liquid lenses with traditional lenses.
