One is 650nm in the visible wavelength and the other is 904nm in the near infrared range. The 650nm laser diode of the visible light can guide beams to the desired position. The second wavelength one, 904nm, has the function of the transmission of the carrier wave, the acquisition of the phase signal and the distance measurement. It can be realized with modulating the near infrared laser source. At first, we analyze and discuss the patents about the optical path of the laser range finder. Based on our findings, we have developed our own optical system. Using ZEMAX, we design optical components for the two-wavelength laser range finder. Several of the designed optical components are fabricated by the ultra-precision machine. These optical components are assembled into the two-wavelength laser range finder. Finally, the results of experiments, the focusing efficiency and the simulation of the phase signal processing are analyzed and discussed simultaneously.
