It integrates distance measuring of ultrasonic sensor, 89S51 chip, CAN Bus transmission, XScale DMA-PXA270 ARM, Window CE 5.0 operating system and VB2005 software. The users of electric scooter are usually elderly people, but they still want to go anywhere1 freely. Electric scooter only has rear-view mirror at left and right sides. It is difficulty to find objects at the backup of electric scooter for elderly people. The proposed system detects the object at the backup of electric scooter. After the distance measuring has processed, the result will show as figure on display of XScale DMA-PXA270 ARM board. In the thesis, an embedded system is used to implement the system and show results. The Window CE 5.0 operating system installs on the embedded system. The program for displaying the result develops under the VB2005 software. The intersection point of two fan-shaped is the position of object at the backup of electric scooter.
