The main purpose of this study was to survey the differences and relationship of the cognitive style on students’ problem solving attitude and logical thinking ability in vocational industrial senior high school.
Based on the questionnaires which were provided by the second-grade students of industrial senior high school in southern part of Taiwan, there were 1,164 questionnaires valid and the effective rate was 77 percent.
By the methods of frequency distribution, mean, standard deviation, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson product moment correlation to analyze the data for the study assumption proving. The conclusions were as follows:
1. The cognitive style of the vocational industrial senior high school students were introversion, intuitive, feeling and perception tendencies.
2. There were significant differences on problem solving attitude and logical thinking ability among the individual background variables of the vocational industrial students.
3. There were significant differences on problem solving attitude among the individual cognitive style of the vocational industrial students.
4. There were significant positive correlation between the approach-avoidance style and the proportional reasoning on vocational industrial students; meanwhile the personal control and the probabilistic reasoning were significantly negative correlated.
The conclusions of this research could provide a guideline for the school education and the further studies.
