Summary: | 碩士 === 國立中央大學 === 資訊管理學系碩士在職專班 === 95 === Merging with another business entity has been one of the strategies for companies to elevate their level of competence. In recent years, mergers between financial organizations have been happening quite often under the encouragement of government policies. Due to the nature of financial business that heavily relies on information technology(IT) for customer data, IT systems has been deeply bounded in day to day operations of financial corporations. Therefore, integration of information technology systems between the merging companies becomes the key to success in financial organizations mergers.
Based on a case study of the merger of a financial company in Taiwan, this research analyzes the motivation, operation model, action items, as well as major decision making factors upon facing IT systems with debatable issues during the process of this merger. The result shows that the company under study has successfully reached the goal with its right strategy and well defined procedures for its MIS integration during the merging process. However, there were some difficulties, including self-centered groups, operation flows, and other related issues. Those obstacles have delayed the timing of several important decisions.
Although each merger is different in context and many factors, the findings and suggestions of this study can provide valuable guidance for MIS integration for the coming mergers by minimizing conflicts.
