Information access is getting easier, prompt and faster, which also makes the access to labor market information more competitive. To new graduates, the access to labor market information becomes one of the most important determinants for the success of locating their first job. The purpose of this study was to examine the job search behavior (the use of information sources and job search intensity) of recent college graduates as well as factors affecting their job search behavior. This is because although it is a well known fact that self-esteem, job search self-efficacy and proactive personality are the three key determinants of job search success, however these relationships have not been examinated by scholars in Taiwan. In this study a new factor, i.e., a mediating factor (job search clarity) has been added for the purpose of examining the relationships between each of these factors. The results of our research show that all three personalities could not predict which labor market channels students will utilize in their job search activities (the formal information source or the informal information source). Among the three personalities mentioned above, we found only job search self-efficacy is able to predict directly job search intensity of a student. Moreover, our research result also confirm our hypothesis that job search clarity is a mediating factor between self-esteem and job search intensity, job search self-efficacy and job search intensity, and proactive personality and job search intensity. Policy implications of these findings have been discussed in the last section of this thesis. 李誠 2007 學位論文 ; thesis 64 zh-TW
