People usually see the various martial art showers from the south and the north to perform weapon and martial art at the temple, market, and space beside the road. They are so-called: 「flapping the fist and selling sticking plaster」 activity. The drum is loud and the performer clamors. The audiences, no matter they are male, female, old or young, all stop to watch. The whir of the audience is impressed. The television did not develop well then. Therefore, this was an important recreational culture in rural and urban areas. According to Taiwan’s folklore, it is called 「Wangluer」. 「Medicine and Apothecary Administration Art」 was annunciated in 1970. It was revised to be 「Drug Code」 in 1993. This code has a huge impact on these martial art performers and people who use traditional Chinese medicine. They convert their career from roving style to a certain spot or establish a kungfu center. It is very difficult to manage this fixed store. This change became one of the Taiwan’s rural traditional martial art cultures. The specific culture stimulates the author’s motive to study. The main subjects include 7 roving martial art performers on this study. The purpose is to explore the developing procedure of Taiwan’s martial art. These 7 martial art performers are chosen to have in-depth interviews. They talk about their careers and the author records them. In addition, literature review is also taken to support the study. The author expects to preserve the old historical experience by way of recording in words and understand the local culture. According to the researchers’ findings, the ecology of Taiwan’s martial art performer has five themes: 1. the styles of martial art include fight, body building, performance, and ceremony. 2. The characteristics of martial art include skill, medicine, props, regulation and abundant martial art culture. 3. The development of martial art had connection with politics from the beginning of dynasty Song to the establishment of Republic of China. 4. Because of the development of society, the transformation of martial art tries to attract the public’s attention by way of hiring the singer and Fukien opera performer to gain the support. 5. The decay of martial art has several reasons including the limit of law, the development of media, the demand of medicine quality, the recognition of martial art, etc. Eventually, the martial art disappears from the street. The current martial art master will pass away soon. This study can preserve the traditional culture and contribute a little achievement when people explore the essence of 「martial art」. none 徐元民 2007 學位論文 ; thesis 452 zh-TW
