Abstract
This work was to discuss the qualities of the skills, play style, and achievements of the top table tennis players between 2002 to 2006. The targets of research were four top players in 2002 to 2006, WANG Liqin, WANG Hao, BOLL Timo and CHUAN Chih-Yuan. Their play styles which were accepted and representative globally were unique. The methods of research were focused on the qualitative qualities by data collection and the participations of international competitions by the author. After the inductions, understanding, and deep analyses of the collected documents, films, officially statistics and other quantized data, the results are as follows:
The following are the features of the four players. CHUAN Chih-Yuan, he has four major techniques. 1>The receive-attack of Three-part Skill, which has the power of active, high moving speed and high quality mass. 2>The rally-ability of Three-part Skill, which has the high connective speed, anti-loop, and shooting average. 3>Paying high attention in practicing and maintaining the explosive and agility. 4>The unique fusion of Asian and European. WANG Hao has three major techniques. 1>The serve-attack of Three-part Skill, which can be used well in serve to get the chance for twiddle-gripped. 2>The newfangled rally-ability of Three-part Skill making the strength in attacks at a stretch. 3>The twiddle-gripped, which improves the disadvantage of pen-hold grip player in backhand attack. For BOLL Timo, he has three major techniques. 1>Strong spin in serve and third ball attack by serve-attack of Three-part Skill. 2>Keeping offensive in rally-ability of Three-part Skill. 3>Stable psychological fiber and playing the each ball cautiously. WANG Liqin, he has three major techniques. 1>High mass of third ball attack in serve-attack of Three-part Skill, which is especially high lethality and shooting average in forehand attack. 2>Needless miss in rally-ability of Three-part Skill, good defense-ability, high frequency in strong forehand attack from sidle. 3>Nice body fiber and high quality and quantity of skill and physical training, which keep plays competitively.
According to the statements of results, the conclusion is：
Analyze the pros and cons, then induce the factors which affect the qualities of players.，we can detect these four top players all good at the rally-ability. Compared to previous tactics, third ball attack technique, it is found out that the four players focus more on the rally ability. Except for observation of players, to analyze the advantages and disadvantages of four top players and to conclude the effective factors of them can help researcher realize the meaning of the results and enhance the strategies adopted in games.
