and sound, popular music has become the form of music which children can
come into contact with most easily. Besides, our society has had different point of
view toward popular music. Therefore, the lively and naive children who need
protection and concern have been influenced by popular music mentally in their
lives. So, from the application and consumption of popular music among
elementary school children, we can find the following facts:
1.We can see children are very fond of popular music and their idol singers and
pay much attention to them. Some children join the activities which are held by
the singers and they even buy the products concerning the singers to show
their supports.
2. In the recent decade, popular music has been applied to the activities of the
elementary schools and the music teaching materials. This fact shows that
popular music has another music value. It is very easy and convenient to
learn and hear popular music, but all of the popular music is not created for
children. In other words, not all of the popular music is suitable for children.
If popular music is applied to the school activities or teaching materials, the
contradictions, chooses, and changes may happen.
The popular music is omnipresent. However, the traditional children's ballads
has declined, and failed to descend. Besides, the songs of the school music
teaching materials have restrictions due to the framework of curriculum. The
contract between them shows the problem of the unbalance. Popular music
presents the commercial and commonalty tastes. If children's lives are only
full of poplar music, it will directly affect their tastes and views toward music.
As a result, when popular music is accepted by all walks of life, we should
think profoundly about the truth of the prevailing of popular music and how
to improve the unbalanced conditions of children's songs.
