Because the price of petroleum is skyrocketing that makes the price of plastic raw materials rise. Thus, the advantage of low price of plastic parts drop gradually. Thus, high value added parts are the solution for high plastic material cost. Micro-featured parts are among the high value added plastic parts which can be applied in consumer, commutation computer and car industries. In this thesis, a micro-featured surface was used as a carrier and coated a thickness of 1500 angstrom ITO(Indium Tin Oxide) to form an electric conductive film for further electroform. The substrate in micro mold insert is nickel metal which is stable in the air and alkaline liquid. Nickel color won’t wear out and Nickel has good corrosion resistance. It is ductile, and easy to polish. Electrical discharge technology was adopted to repair the ragged surface in micro mold insert for fine precision. Finally, use traditional injection molding machine and micro mold insert to fabricate the product. The results showed that the micro features in the sample was successfully duplicated in the mold insert and the injection molding process also replicate the micro features successfully.
