It is a simple modeling approach, which provides physical insight for a designer. Due to the limitations of the conventional PWM switch model itself, the conventional model can not be straightforwardly used in converters that contain coupled inductors. However, this modified model overcomes the limitations of the conventional PWM switch model, and expands the application fields of the PWM switch cell. Not only the basic converters, but also the converters with coupled inductor can be analyzed by this modified model. A high step-up buck-boost converter model and a high step-up boost converter model are revealed in this thesis. By using the modified PWM switch model, the transfer functions can be derived, and the experimental results show good agreements with the theoretical models.
