By employing the internet protocol on such an ATM-based network while taking the message traffic into considerations, those different types of power system data can be smoothly transferred over ATM network, ensuring satisfying the quality of service in the communication network. Besides, as this proposed approach has embedded the functions of communication traffics recording and process monitoring, the system debugging and message traffic control can be also achieved in a more efficient manner. Furthermore, this dissertation has proposed an implementation of real-time transfer protocol (RTP) on the communication network in order to enhance the link status identification and bandwidth management. It was found that through the aid of this protocol, the status of electric power equipment can be accessed more efficiently, while the data transfer between control center and remote equipment is effectively completed. This dissertation also contributed to the power system data transfer on the personal area network. By utilizing the Bluetooth communication technology, the wireless transmission of power system data was implemented. In addition, considering the communications between different measurements, an instrumentation information meta language was also applied such that the information acquired from various instruments can be better assimilated. This proposed Bluetooth wireless transmission method would help save the monitoring circuit installation and maintenance investment, while the security of personnel can be highly maintained.
