The backfill and foundation of the retaining walls were construced by stacking 2mm e 150mm steel rods. In this model, we can observe the location of failure surface and behavior of retaining structure on two modes of foundation deformation:cofficient of subgrade reaction is 0.01 N/mm3 and 0.005 N/mm3, settlement under the base of the wall, and settlement under the backfill of the wall. The results show that the influence of settlement in kv = 0.005 N/mm3 of the wall on retaining walls are most apparent. In this mode, it generated the highest increment of the lateral pressure, and more settlement at the crest of the backfill. Therefore, for analysis of earth retaining structure, it must take into the account of the influence of foundation settlement on the whole behavior.
