It is the ratio of the first time pass number to total inspection number, for material/equipment before and construction/installation during construction. Previous studies have applied it on bridge and building construction projects. This study applies it on high-tech plant construction, to analyze the rework cost due to the quality defect as well as the relationship between FTPR and rework cost. First, a finished high-tech plant of project A was taken as an example. FTPR was calculated to analyze quality variations of construction works at different stages. Then the failed items in the quality check list were selected and the rework expenses were calculated. These expenses include the labor, materials and penalty ticket of machines. Furthermore, an on-going high-tech plant of project B was adopted to check the correlation between FTPR and rework cost, and display FTPRs of different works and the same work by different contractors. The result shows that there is significant dependency between FTPR and rework cost. The higher is FTPR, the lower is rework cost. From the analysis of different FTPRs, the characteristics of different works and the difficulty of construction can be understood. This can feedback to and prevent the quality defect of construction works. From the FTPR differences, contractors’ technical levels and managerial ability can be differentiated. FTPR can be used to select contractors. Shing-Tao Chang 張行道 2007 學位論文 ; thesis 85 zh-TW
