Summary: | 碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 土木工程學系碩博士班 === 95 === Reservoir sludge and rice husk, which can be burned at higher temperatures, are utilized to manufacture various porous spherical media with dual layers. By using different shell ratio, core ratio and furnace temperature in manufacturing, spherical media with high water holding capacity and sufficient strength were produced. The physical properties of the spherical media with dual layers were measured to verify if they can be regarded as ideal growing media. Also, the effects of shell ratio, core ratio and furnace temperature on the physical properties of spherical media are evaluated and compares to those of LECA and perlite.
The physical properties of ideal growing media are: the air-filled porosity is 10% to 50%, the container capacity is 20% to 60%, and the bulk density is 0.3 g/cm3 to 0.75 g/cm3. Based on the experimental results conducted here, it is found that the physical properties of the spherical media manufactured in this study are: the air-filled porosity is 37% to 41% , the container capacity is 3% to 28% , and the bulk density is 0.4 g/cm3 to 0.9 g/cm3. Hence, two of the twenty-seven spherical media produced in this study, S05-C01-T900 and S05-C01-T1000, whose container capacity and strength are higher than LEAC and perlite, can be regarded as ideal growing media because of their promising physical properties.
