Variety nucleating agents were mixed in polypropylene respectively, and were prepared by using twin-screw extruder. The thermal, mechanical and crystalline behaviors of composites materials were evaluated. From the experimental results of XRD and FT-IR reveal that the effect of increasing crystallinity of PP is sequentially inorganic with organic nucleating agent, then is an organic nucleating agent, and then is an inorganic nucleating agent finally. Organic nucleating agent may improve the compatibility of inorganic nucleating agent in PP matrix, and meanwhile effectively increase the crystallinity of PP. Comparing different ratios of organic and inorganic nucleating agents dispersed in PP compounds, the effect of increasing mechanical properties among each other was found sequentially to be organic nucleating agent > inorganic with organic nucleating agent > inorganic nucleating agent. Introducing nucleating agents can increase the crystallinity of PP compounds. The regular and ordered morphology of spherical crystals in PP matrix further improve the mechanical properties and heat resistance of PP compounds. The synergistic effect of organic blending inorganic nucleating agents was found to play roles of fillers and nucleation, which tremendously increases the mechanical properties and heat resistance of PP compounds. Also, we were found inorganic nucleating agent in PP compounds is incompatibility and can't improve effectively the mechanical properties and heat resistance of PP compounds.
