The base of ecotourism development is built and constructed on the ecological environment. However, the development of the ecotourism may bring some impacts on the environment, economic and social culture of the spot, etc. In order to reduce the impacts of the ecotourism to promote visitor’s self-identity of the ecological environment by environment for education, it is very important to establish a proper eco-tour itinerary to obtain the recreation experiences and protect the ecological environment at an ecological tourism spot. In this paper, we proposed an alternative method of the ant colony optimization (ACO) to plan the proper eco-tour route the spot. Yangmingshan National Park was verified by the present model. The results indicated that the ant colony optimization can more efficiently simulate the eco-tour itinerary than the rules of thumb.
