In order to cost down the company’s investment on the information equipments and keep the small-scale database systems performing as good as large-scale database systems, this work will be focus on the optimization of small-scale distributed PC clusters. This study is to design three types of distributed internet database system: distributed transaction by serial method, distributed transaction by processor performance, and distributed transaction by query command. In addition, the performance between different methods is compared so that we can find out the optimized performance for specific conditions. The experimental data shows that when the database encounters huge amounts of operation instructions and data, the system’s performance will be reduced seriously. Based on our experimental results, it shows that our methods can efficiently improve the performance by using the developed distributed database system. In our experiment, the distributed transaction by serial method has better performance. It can deal the data with a lower price/performance ratio of NT0.69 per data for developed distributed database system than NT13 per data for Sun Micro System E10K.
