Summary: | 碩士 === 國立高雄應用科技大學 === 模具工程系碩士班 === 96 === A cam is a usually a rotating wheel or shaft device that can translates movement from circular to reciprocating by striking at one or more points on its circular path. The profile surface of a cylindrical cam is relying on its motion curve. The motion curve equation of cylindrical cam can be mathematically modeled by parametric equation along with the boundary conditions, that is, the motion curve of the cylindrical cam can be represented through very few control points. In this study, the cylindrical cam in the folder mechanism of a mobile communication device is first analyzed and the three-dimensional cam model is demonstrated by the use of generated parametric equation and computer aided design software automatically.
This developed process can significantly reduce the time required in the designing of the proper cylindrical cam profile. Designer can set the boundary condition directly to change the cam motion curve so as to generate cam curved surface profile or revise the cam curved surface model directly. Validation is carried to compare the torque required to open the folder mechanism. Results show an approximately 15%-35% deviation between the experimental and analytical value due to the manufacturing inaccuracy and the miniature size the cylindrical cam.
