The purpose of this study was to identify the prevalence and related factors of depressive mood among teachers of elementary schools. Four hundred and forty four teachers from ten elementary schools in Kaohsiung city were recruited by purposive sampling. Three valid structured questionnaires consisting of Taiwanese Depression Questionnaire (TDQ), social support scales and working stress scale were used for data collection. Participants were asked to reply to the questionnaires anonymously. The results showed that the prevalence of self-reported depressive mood among these teachers was 19.01%. Univariate analysis revealed that the factors significantly related to the depressive mood were being lower age, having lower exercise frequency, having higher caring burdens, with poor self-perceived health status, having lower social support and having higher work stress. The results of multiple logistic regression found that being lower age, having lower exercise frequency, and having higher work stress were the factors significantly related to the depressive mood. The results of this study would be used for the references to develop interventions for promoting elementary teacher’s health. Mei-Sang Yang 楊美賞 2007 學位論文 ; thesis 143 zh-TW
