Abstract
The research motive of this thesis comes from the strong inner senses in the growth course of the author's life mainly. Also, that the Seth’s point of view of life mixed the marrow of the religion philosophy and culture between east and west attracted the author’s research interest in it. The research purpose of this thesis not only would probe into theories of the Seth’s point of view of life, would find out about its praxis in life even more, in order to satisfy the desires of modern people's bodies, mind and soul. This thesis takes case of ‘Chinese New Age Society’, because the author participated in its studying group once, so is easier to observe its operation. However, academic research, must strive to make the objectivity, so the author attempts between the subjective and objective position, try her best to make the balance, and adopts three kinds of research methods, such as literature review, comparative study and in-depth interview.
The thoughts of the New Age Movement prevails in America and Europe and other places at present, rooted in the hearts of the people , can be regarded as an important key to manipulate nonphysical energy in the 21st century. In the New Age Movement, the thought of Seth occupies a higher position. Seth, the entity who described himself as an energy personality essence no longer focused in physical matter in the form of the body. Seth had spoken more than nine hundred sessions exclusively through Jane Roberts, written down by Robert F. Butts, Jane’s husband, by means of his specific fast-writing since the December 8, 1963 till August 30, 1984. These Seth Material has being kept in the library of the Yale University in the U. S. A. What Jane spoke in a trance state as Seth is a language of a kind of sacredness experience of the religion. This thesis attempts to find out the Seth’s point of view of life from that material.
According to the author’s interpretation, the content of the Seth’s point of view of life contains four aspects, such as views of consciousness, soul, time and space, and the holistic views of people, which would be explained in the Chapter Two in detail. Then, Chapter Three discusses the praxis of the Seth’s point of view of life, including the expansion of consciousness, the experience and growth of soul, living in the present moment, and holistic views of people’s health care and healing. Chapter Four deals with interviewing data of five interviewees like Chi-ching Wang, the founder and the former president of Chinese New Age Society, and Tien-sheng Hsu, the president of Chinese New Age Society. From their opinions the author analyzes the praxis of life view and the operation of Chinese New Age Society. Chapter Five, the last chapter, addresses conclusion of this thesis and suggestion of the author concerning individuals, nonprofit organizations of life-caring, government and follow-up studies. In sum, the author hope to invoke each life can find oneself and inspect the fact twisted by some restricted beliefs. Furthermore, the author hope that each life can reconstruct the beliefs system, by which reality is created, life value is fulfilled and the others’ life is cared.
