Given point correspondences, the 3D reconstruction of objects can be obtained by estimating the fundamental matrix between two images. Sometimes, however, the fundamental matrix which can not determine a unique solution is termed as degeneracy. The problems about degeneracy consist of the configuration and the type of transformation. In this thesis, the differences between theories (ideal) and experimental (practical) cases for degeneracy are considered. According to the experimental results, some good configurations for camera settings to avoid some degeneracy are suggested. Because the 3D point coordinates estimated from the fundamental matrix are non-metric, a transform matrix is used to transfer the non-metric 3D point coordinates into metric 3D point coordinates in this thesis. In the experiments, 3D point data of non-ruled quadrics, ruled quadrics and the plane from Homography are produced. These produced 3D points are used for testing the properties of degeneracy.
