Description
Summary:碩士 === 輔仁大學 === 公共衛生學系碩士班 === 96 === Background: To improve people’s health promotion behaviors, Sinjhuang Community Health-Building Center was developed in 1999. Members in the community were recruited as community health volunteers to identify community health problems and to provide preventive health care services. The education and training of volunteers is considered imperative and cannot be ignored because it adult continuing education has become an important trend and an influential factor of continuous services among community health volunteers. To increase knowledge and ability in weight control of community health volunteers, a training program based on the essence of self-directed learning was developed. This study was designed to evaluate the effectiveness of this training program. Objectives: The objectives of this study are as follows: (I) To compare the differences in the readiness of the self-directed learning and knowledge in weight control between the experimental group and control group before and after the courses. (II) To analyze the learning process of participants and explore the influence of the training program on subjects’ self-directed learning readiness. (III) To understand the satisfaction of the experimental group volunteers with the "weight control volunteer training program". Methods: "Quasi-experimental design" was applied to conduct the study. The participants of this program were the experimental group, and those who did not attend the course the control group. Tests were administered before and after the intervention with closed-ended structured questionnaires. The program was scheduled 5 times in one month, 3 hour each. The training program was developed following teaching strategies of self-directed learning covering diet and exercise improvement issues. The Statistic analysis was performed to learn its effectiveness. Data processing was analyzed by statistical software SPSS12.0. Results: (I) Significant improvement of self-directed learning readiness was observed among community health volunteers during and after the training program. (II) Self-directed learning training program helps improve the relevant knowledge about weight control especially in the knowledge regarding healthy diet. (III)Participants are content of and satisfied with the training program with self-directed learning strategy. Conclusion: This course was designed to improve volunteers’ knowledge on weight control with self-directed learning strategy. The effectiveness of self-directed learning was obvious.
