碩士 === 逢甲大學 === 紡織工程所 === 95 === Digital knitting jacquard pattern design method using index colors is developed to weave color images on knitting fabrics. First, image processing software, Photoshop, is used to transform a color image into a index color image. Then programming language, Visual Basic, is used to choose representative colors in the index color image. The jacquard pattern can be directly fabricated on a computerized knitting machine into a fabric with the index color image. This method is developed to reduce the visual noise which may appear in the image of the fabric fabricated by the previous method using several basic colors. It was found in this study that the choice of color yarn, and number of the index colors have strong effects on the pattern diagram generated. The images of the fabric fabricated by using several representative colors can show plentiful colors and are very. In addition, images thus fabricated by using several representative colors have less visual noise which appear by using basic colors. By using index colors the levels of the background in the image can be reduced and therefore the drawback of color mixing in a large background area can be improved. Moreover, by using index color and by the progressive searching method in calculating the color cells effectively reduce the computation time to generate the jacquard patterns.
