碩士 === 逢甲大學 === 建築與都市計畫所 === 95 === Puli Town inherited and modified its urban planned from the Japanese Colonial Period and became the fundamental basis of its development. In retrospect of the 100-year modernization of the Town, the western style of urban spatial structure, which was introduced by the colonial government that had a history almost one hundred years old. What changes can be found after such a long period of time regarding the spatial structure concepts and planning of Puil Town? The town with a colonial background included in the urban planned by the previous KMT government be evalnated and interpreted is also a topic of in-depth discussion. In order to shed light on the future of Puil Town urban development and to make Puil Town a better place superiorty, this research studies the changes in the formation and expansion of the urban structure of Puil Town by 1940~2000 in the changes of spatial structure and studies on the situations as below: 1、How did the urban structure of Puli Town succeed the previous plan and continue to develop by 1940~2000? What changes were made after the structural model was adjusted in1940~2000? 2、A discussion on the changes of the formulation and expansion of the urban spatial structure with an evaluation of the substantial development facts at present. 3、It is expected that this research could effectively compile historical data and facilitate future studies in the continuation and development pattem of the urban spatial structures of Taiwan`s cities. This research applies computer technology to conduct the research. The space syntax theory is used as the main foundation of this research. The research also discusses space shape and the metropolis space relations. The results show that the metropolis in Puli Town reveals as the multi- cores development town structure. It extends development toward the town center periphery with the ring-like road system. The metropolis space development with higher mobility is located in the district near path convenient system. The location of housing development has trends toward the north development areas.
