Patent is a essential factor is to maintain business competitive advantages, we think patent as not only commerce attacking weapon or protective screen, so enterprises must think to how to use patent effectively to get important role in this technology field when enterprises in keen competition of external environment and with inadequate resources, it is the question that every enterprise must give careful consideration and fast this, especially international enterprises have key technology, domestic enterprises improve himself competitiveness and management performances. Although each other technological cooperation is important, how to find out complementary partners with enterprises and take appropriate way of cooperative trade is a very important subject.
More papers analyze competitive strategy of companies by industry analyzing or analyze R&D strategy by patent analyzing, but fewer papers analyze and study patent map to find his partner in one technology field with co-opetition viewpoint, so I want to analyze and study information of technology development and business competition to the firm with patent maps and patent indicators for technology, it can help enterprises find and choose his partner in research and development and the appropriate way of cooperative trade.
This study combines technology strategy planning and co-opetition strategy and technological position and patent map and patent indicator of references as effective factors to technology strategy planning and technological cooperation for enterprises, and construct the important issues about technological strategies for enterprises as to get important trend of technological development and confirm the major technology on the market and understand distinctive technology competence and strategic technology area of the company and find out all players and potential and present rivals of the company in this technological field and possible cooperative trade among complementary company and partner by patent analyzing and technological cooperative trade with both sides of technological supply and demand.
This study takes LTCC technology as an example. We choose granted patents in 233 from TWPAT and USPTO. We try to explore the technological development and the technological capacities of relative enterprises in 20 and find out high technology relative enterprises with Taiwanese companies with assignees and analysis of co-inventers and co-assignee and IPC/UPC and cited mutually according to competitive and complementary technology mutually, as among the relative leading and innovative and basic of technology and minds with four items of the corrected CHI Research patent indicators of relative annual average of cited rate and Technology Cycle Time and relative Science Linkage and relative patent share rate to patent position analyze, furthermore, to distinguish out three Strategic Groups by cluster analysis and discriminant analysis, three Strategic Groups respectively are good at innovative technology and leading technology and both innovative and leading technology and explore cooperative chances and feasible trade, and generalize a co-opetition analysis of technology of the model.
