The existing issue is not to argue who is the host and who is the guest, rather both sides should cooperate with each other and build a mutually beneficial companionship. The society we are living in always expects to get more resources from a university in general.However, the ministry of education anticipates a university can extend their guiding and assisting functionalities to its surrounding community. Under such dilemma, it is very important to balance the situations and to develop a stable relationship between a university and its surrounding community.
This study mainly explores the problem of how a university can help its neighborhood and realizes how to provide interactive community service.The domain of this research is within the Se-Tun Section and the surrounding area of Feng Chia University in the Taichung City.
There are five goals of this research:
1. Understanding and studying theoretical or practical interactive models for Se-Tun habitants and Feng-Chia University.
2. Finding out current interactive situations: i.e. to realize the view points how Feng-Chia University exhibit itself for Se-Tun habitants; and to know what is the degree of satisfaction that Se-Tun habitants has in for Feng-Chia University.
3. Examining the situations of available resource sharing for Feng-Chia University and its surrounding Se-Tun Area.
4. Knowing the contents of Se-Tun habitants who took part in activities that hosted by Feng-Chia University.
5. Understanding the mutual expectation of Feng-Chia University and Se-Tun habitants.
According to the results of our research, the following comments are summarized as reference for university and community.
