With in-depth interview research, we find out that single mothers’ situation and welfare demands. Meanwhile, we also reviews related policies. The in-depth interview included ten low-income single mothers in Taichung City, and the main results are as follows: 1. Economic aspects: (1). Single mothers are excluded from the labor market; (2). Single mothers’ pressures are not released under current policies; and (3). Single mothers lack of integrated information. 2. Social support : (1). There is no consistent allowance for the single-parent; and (2). The policy of social security is not practicable. The suggestions are as follows: 1. Social assistance: (1). To re-define “working ability and eligibility”; (2).To develop “property forming plan” and regulate the time of property accumulating; (3). To review including into parents’ property of origin family; (4). To allocate single mother’s allowance; and (5). To give a buffer period for such a low-income family who are not qualified. 2. Labor policies: (1). Revising the regulations immediately; (2).Differentiating single mothers’ job demands with individual differences; and (3) Paying attention to bring up their children.
