A study of leisure need, leisure behavior and the quality life for the elementary retired teachers in Chang-hua county

碩士 === 大葉大學 === 休閒事業管理學系碩士在職專班 === 95 === Leisure participation is very important for a retired life; therefore, the goal of this research is to explore the leisure need, leisure satisfaction, leisure behavior and life quality of retired elementary school teachers in Changhua County and the difference and relevance among them. Further, the study inquires into the predictabilities of leisure behavior and leisure satisfaction for life quality when the variable “self-awareness of health” is controlled. And the study also offers suggestions to the retired teachers, government, industries and related institutions. Based on 512 valid questionnaires, the findings show: 1.Among surveyed teachers, "social intercourse" is the highest emphasized goal in leisure need and leisure satisfaction; "health or sport activities" are the most frequent activities in the status quo of leisure behavior; "psychological and personal belief" is the most satisfied aspect in life quality. 2.The teachers who are “engaged in volunteer activities" show higher level in leisure need, leisure satisfaction and life quality than those who "aren’t engaged in volunteer activities" 3.Leisure need are conspicuously positively correlated with leisure satisfaction and leisure behavior. Life quality is also conspicuously positively correlated with leisure satisfaction and leisure behavior. 4.After the variable "self-awareness of health condition" being controlled, leisure satisfaction and leisure behavior are still capable of predicting life quality, which can explain 47.2% of the variance.
